About Me

Hi! My name is Kim.

I was born and raised in California and lived the majority of my life in San Antonio, Texas. Currently, I live in Houston, Texas with my fiancé and our fur baby named Sammy. During my leisure time, I love traveling, watering my plants, watching movies, reading, and hiking outdoors.

I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Texas. I decided to become a psychotherapist to better understand my own mental health struggles as an LGBTQIA+ Latina, as well as the mental health struggles of my loved ones and community.

I have a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio in psychology and clinical mental health counseling. I’ve been involved in the mental health field since 2016 and worked at residential treatment centers, emergency shelters, permanent shelters, private practice, and behavioral health hospitals serving individuals and families who are undocumented, children in foster care, LGBTQIA+, children, adolescents, adults, couples, elderly individuals, and trauma survivors.

I am a compassionate and client-centered therapist who integrates evidence-based modalities into my practice. My approach includes trauma-informed care, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, Gottman method, solution-focused brief therapy, and a commitment to person-centered interactions. However, I tailor my therapeutic approach to meet the individual needs of each client. Drawing from a diverse toolkit, I may incorporate various evidence-based modalities not mentioned, ensuring a personalized and effective experience for every person I work with.

My goal as your therapist is to help you feel safe, supported, and empowered during our sessions. All sessions are virtual and I highly recommend you bring along your fur baby, blanket, and favorite beverage/snack to the session.

Let’s get comfortable and begin the healing journey!
